Kickin’ It Into High Gear!

Hey Everyone!

Man, what a month it has been at GOTR. Between planning our spring fundraiser,- The Sneaker Soiree, coordinating with a team of 9 other interns, working on our spring 5K, volunteering with GOTR, and creating fun graphics for the team- my month has been an absolute blast!

This past month I was able to place the group of FSU interns in various roles to help them find their strengths and passions within the world of GOTRBB. They are each meant to help us with our Comcast Cares Day- a day full of volunteering in the community that GOTR creates a specialized project for, as well as becoming a member of one other team, such as our social media team, the Donor Gratitude breakfast committee, the 5K committee, and more! I am on each of these committees as well, so having an environment that encourages student involvement has proven to be extremely beneficial not only to my experience with Girls on the Run, but the over all success and growth of our program in general.

Our season finally kicked off this week, and our girls have begin their journey to unlocking their limitless potential. Having the opportunity to be there alongside these teams and watch the girls growth over this next 10 weeks is something that I am really looking forward to, as I haven’t had the chance to be with GOTR for a full season until now. Over these next two weeks I am starting to visit the schools during their practice to be able to see the many different dynamics these teams bring to the table.

March is an exciting month that I am really looking forward to, since many committee begin their workings over the next couple weeks, like the 5K Committee who has the large task of creating a unique and empowering run for our girls on May 11th.
